Initial assessment
A comprehensive initial assessment is performed by our physiotherapists to identify participant’s current level of function. Physiotherapists identify any functional, physical limitations and work with the participant to minimise the limitations. During the assessment we establish a strong understanding about your desires and goals, and then develop a treatment plan to improve health, wellbeing, functional capacity, and daily living skills.
Initial Assessments can involve looking at:
  • Movement and mobility
  • Pain and discomfort
  • Muscle and joint dysfunction
  • Anatomical & physiological limitations & capacity
  • Risk of trips/falls/injuries
Falls risk assessment and prevention
Falls can start a downward spiral of immobility and reduced confidence, and capacity. A falls risk assessment is used to find out if you have a low, moderate, or high risk of falling. If the assessment shows you are at an increased risk, we recommend strategies to prevent falls and reduce the chance of injury.

During the falls screening we ask series of questions about your overall health and if you’ve had previous falls or problems with balance, standing, and/or walking. Falls assessment tools will be used to test your strength, joint range, balance, coordination, and gait.

We use evidence-based falls prevention program such as sunbeam program to improve strength and balance to minimise the risk of fall.

Mobility Assessment
Decline in mobility can markedly affect a person’s quality of life. At Restore Health Care, we are dedicated to improve or maintain your mobility. Aim of this assessment is to identify the limiting factor of the mobility. Following the mobility assessment, an exercise program is established to assist the participant in working towards their goals.
Neurological conditions we treat
  • Traumatic brain injuries
  • Stroke
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
Balance and strength program
Strength and balance exercises are just as important as other activities. Strong muscles and improved balance make it easier to do activities of daily life and help to prevent falls.
This program is focused to prevent falling and to improving and maintaining functional capacity of participants. The programme has many positive outcomes such as increased energy to do more tasks, improved function during activities, and enhanced participation in daily life.

Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy is a form of therapeutic exercise conducted in warm water under the supervision of a physiotherapist. Hydrotherapy utilises the properties of water to assist in reducing pain and improving function. One of the major benefits of hydrotherapy is that therapeutic exercise occurs in an environment that reduces the load on weight-bearing joints. Hydrotherapy also helps in muscle relaxation, strengthening, improving joint motion and reducing pain and in specific populations it helps improve muscle coordination and balance.

An initial assessment will be conducted to ensure that hydrotherapy is appropriate for you to achieve the benefit from the program.
